Dry Rooms

The Dry Room was created in response to the need for dry environments for certain processes: in these settings, it is vital that contamination levels and temperature are kept under control, and humidity levels remain very low.

Galvani uses all of its expertise and know-how when creating Clean Rooms, and when planning, designing, building, installing and validating Dry Rooms.

Thanks to its experience and expertise, Galvani is able to provide turnkey Dry Rooms that meet the highest safety standards, which are ready to use on time.

What are Clean and Dry Rooms?

A Dry Room is a Clean Room which, as well as having a controlled-contamination environment, must have a relative humidity level of less than 5%.

One of the main uses of Dry Rooms is the development and manufacturing of lithium batteries, which must be protected from any potential corrosion.

Thanks to its skill and expertise, Galvani is a leader in creating Dry Rooms for lithium-battery manufacturing.

Dry Rooms and Clean Rooms

The main difference between a Dry Room and a Clean Room lies in the relative-humidity level, which in a Dry Room never exceeds 5%, while in a Clean Room ranges from 40 to 60%. This is fundamental for certain types of processes, particularly those in the micro-electronics and automotive sectors.

Dry Rooms have been a big step forward for the lithium-battery manufacturing industry, as processing that involves lithium electrodes must take place in extremely dry environments to prevent deterioration.

The systems for air-contamination control (particles per m³), temperature and pressure levels used in Clean Rooms are also used in Dry Rooms

Dry Room
Analysis

A thorough analysis of the client’s needs and of the sector allows us to create a functional solution

The analysis is the first step carried out when creating a Dry Room: we collect all the relevant information about processes, the client’s needs, the sector and the setting, so that we can provide solutions carefully tailored to the specific needs of each situation.

Our consultants can also carry out on-site visits, so they can see for themselves the area in which the Dry Room will be installed.

Planning
and Designing a Dry Room

Galvani’s planning and design stage takes the construction specifications, the modularity of the layout and the expandability of the Dry Room into account

When planning and designing a Dry Room, construction specifications, which depend on the sector concerned, are taken into account first, and then the layout is organised so that it is modular and that the Dry Room is expandable.

We strictly adhere to the relevant regulatory standard, which is ISO 14644, as well as other types of regulations such as the Federal Standard used in the USA.

The planning and design stage also takes the setting and processes surrounding the Dry Room into account, so that it is integrated in a functional and efficient way.

Manufacturing
a Dry Room

Throughout production, exceptional quality, compliance with the relevant regulations and perfect adherence to the design are guaranteed

Each part of the Dry Room determined during the planning and design stage is manufactured in our own workshops, so that we can carefully oversee every detail, conform with the relevant European standards, and provide an end product that ensures maximum efficiency and safety.

Qualified Installation
of a Dry Room

Installation is only carried out by our own specially trained technicians, who follow exclusive Clean Process protocols

The same care and attention that goes into the planning and design of a Dry Room goes into theinstallation. This is the stage where everything comes together and nothing must be left to chance. For this reason, specialist technicians, who are trained to comply with current regulations (ISO 14644) and follow our exclusive Clean Process protocols, carry out the installation.

These protocols set out specific, detailed cleaning procedures to be carried out during installation, so that the Dry Room is free from dust prior to startup and can be used much sooner.

Validazione camera bianca

Validating
a Dry Room

Before delivery, certain tests required by the relevant regulations are carried out and a test report is issued.

The final step before delivery involves validating the Dry Room. Our specialist installers carry out certain tests required by the relevant regulations, using sophisticated technological tools. Humidity, sterility, temperature, pressure and level of cleanliness (dust particles in one m³ of air) are all measured.

Once the tests have been passed, a test report is issued and the Dry Room can be used without any further action required.

The validation service is also available for existing Dry Rooms.

Maintaining
a Dry Room

Having maintenance work carried out, preferably scheduled, is the easiest and most practical way of ensuring that the performance of the Dry Room remains high.

To ensure the Dry Room remains in excellent working order and, above all, to prevent production stops, Galvani has developed its own maintenance service that saves clients time and money.

This saves time, as worn parts are verified and replaced quickly without the need for operations to stop.

It also saves money because the client does not need their own maintenance technician, nor do they incur the expense caused by major-damage repairs or stoppages.
