Characteristics of a Clean Room for the food sector

The constant monitoring of air quality, temperature and humidity is fundamental in ensuring that food products are properly preserved, as this prevents fungi and bacteria from growing and spreading, which would compromise the quality and freshness of the food product.

All these parameters are kept under strict control in our Clean Rooms to ensure the environments remain safe and uncontaminated. In addition, using a Clean Room allows you to limit the use of preservatives and is highly recommended for processing fresh produce.

Technical requirements and relevant standards

Clean Rooms for the food sector also adhere to the technical requirements set out in the cleanliness classes (ISO 1 to ISO 9). These have different parameters regarding the number of particles per m³, the type and speed of air flow, and coverage.

Temperature, pressure and humidity are also considered, in relation to the type of process involved.

The international ISO 14644 standard stipulates and regulates all the parameters for Clean Rooms, both in terms of requirements and production stages. The final validation stage, which is always included in the service we offer, certifies that the Clean Room strictly complies with the relevant regulations.

A very useful service that our clients like is the Scheduled-Maintenance service: regular checks are carried out, which ensure that the Clean Room continues to function properly, thuspreventing damage and costly production stops. Here, our specialist employees, equipped with sophisticated tools, take careful measurements, replace any worn parts and check the condition of the air-conditioning and heating systems.

In addition, a Remote-Assistance service, which enables our specialist technicians to support the client remotely, is available. The technicians can view, log and modify the Clean Room’s parameters directly from our offices.

Comfort Rate

The Comfort Rate is a tool used to measure the level of comfort experienced by employees inside a Clean Room. Galvani’s Comfort Rate system is focused on those who work in hyper-ventilated environments, such as Clean Rooms, providing a score from 1 to 6 to determined the level of comfort.

In particular, air-distribution systems are evaluated, with parameters such as the temperature of the air supplied, the ambient temperature desired and the coverage factor taken into account.
